Established in 1949, it became a vital facet of student life at the Institute of Geological Sciences at the University of Wroclaw. Professor J\u00f3zef Zwierzycki served as the Circle&#8217;s inaugural supervisor. Over the years, the Circle has spearheaded a myriad of activities, including geological excursions, summer science camps, public science lectures, photography contests, and mineral collection exhibitions. Throughout its history, the SSCG has collaborated with numerous entities such as the Scientific Circle of Geologists of the AGH University of Krak\u00f3w, the Circle of Young Geologists from Warsaw, the Scientific Circles of Geographers from the University of Wroc\u0142aw and Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna\u0144, and geology students from the University in Brno. The Circle has received multiple accolades from the Minister of Science and Higher Education through the StRuNa competition, which evaluates the contributions of student organizations. The StRuNa awards bestowed upon SSCG include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>in 2011, the Circle was awarded the first prize by Minister Barbara Kudrycka for organizing the scientific camp titled \u201cAlbania \u2014 in the footsteps of Professor Stanislaw Zuber\u201d,\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in 2014, for the organization of the scientific camp \u201cScandinavia 2014\u201d, the Circle earned a commendation from Minister Lena Kolarska-Bobi\u0144ska,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in 2015, the Circle received what might be the most prestigious recognition in the StRuNa Student Scientific Movement competition: an honorable mention in the \u201cScientific Circle of the Year\u201d category. This event garnered significant attention, with extensive coverage in Swedish newspapers. Professor K. Ma\u015blankiewicz and Associate Professor Alfred Majerowicz supervised the trip,<br><strong>1971 <\/strong>\u2014 The Circle underwent a name change. Initially established as the \u201cScientific Circle of Young Geologists\u201d, it was renamed to \u201cStudent Scientific Circle of Geologists\u201d in 1971. From the 1950s to the 1970s, the Circle functioned within the framework of the Polish Students Union (ZSP). Starting in 1983, it operated under the auspices of the University of Wroclaw,<br><strong>1971 <\/strong>\u2014 This year marked a high in terms of the Circle&#8217;s activities with a record number of scientific camps held in Poland \u2014 a total of 4. Supervised by Czes\u0142aw August, Tomasz Kulakowski, and Wojciech \u015aliwinski,<br><strong>1980 <\/strong>\u2014 The second scientific camp in Bulgaria was held, focusing on the Rila-Rhodope Mountains. Supervisors included Janusz Janeczek and Andrzej Muszy\u0144ski<br><strong>1981 <\/strong>\u2014 Marked as one of the most successful years in the Circle&#8217;s history. During this period, the Circle organized seven &#8220;mining-mineralogical&#8221; excursions to mines, which were challenging to access at the time. This year saw the first scientific camp in Western Europe in the Circle&#8217;s history, with a trip to the Bavarian Alps supervised by Waldemar Sroka,<br><strong>1987 <\/strong>\u2014 A camp in Great Britain, supervisor: Maria Mastelarz, head of the camp: Tomasz Bolanowski,<br><strong>1989 <\/strong>\u2014 A camp in Sweden, supervisor: Waldemar Sroka, head of the camp: Bernard Cedro,<br><strong>1993 <\/strong>\u2014 A scientific camp \u2014 &#8220;expedition&#8221; to Turkmenistan (Balchash, Karakum Desert), supervisor: Waldemar Sroka, head of the camp: Wojciech Korzekwa,<br><strong>1994 <\/strong>\u2014 A camp Ukraine, Russia (Crimea, Caucasus), supervisor: Adam Szuszkiewicz,<br><strong>1998 <\/strong>\u2014 A scientific expedition to Mongolia (Altai Mountains, Gobi Desert), supervisor: Robert Nied\u017awiedzki, head of the camp: Anna Szynkiewicz,<br><strong>1990 <\/strong>\u2014 A camp in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan (northern Tien Shan), supervisor: Dawid Bia\u0142ek, head of the camp: Anna Szynkiewicz,<br><strong>2000 <\/strong>\u2014 An expedition to Russia (Lake Baikal), supervisor: Robert Nied\u017awiedzki, head of the camp: Anna Szynkiewicz,<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-spacer stk-block-spacer stk--no-padding stk-block stk-1654b01\" data-block-id=\"1654b01\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2011<\/strong>\u2014 The Circle is again experiencing a boom in its activities, with field trips to 8 mines, 10 thematic trips in the field of regional geology of Poland, 2 scientific camps (in the Bieszczady Mountains and Albania), 2 conferences, 8 lectures, 3 educational rallies for middle and secondary school students, SSCG students helping organize 2 mineralogical exchanges as well as taking part in 3 international conferences and publishing popular science articles in such journals as \u201cPrzegl\u0105d Geologiczny\u201d (Eng. Geological Review) and \u201cPrzegl\u0105d Uniwersytecki\u201d (Eng. University Review) (8 articles) and conference abstracts in \u201cMineralogical Magazine\u201d and \u201cMineralogia Special Papers\u201d. For organizing the best scientific expedition in the 2010\/2011 academic year, the Circle was honored with an award from the Minister of Science and Higher Education.<br><strong>2013 <\/strong>\u2014 A scientific camp was held titled \u201cIndonesia 2013 \u2014 in the footsteps of Professor J\u00f3zef Zwierzycki\u201d, supervised by Waldemar Sroka, head of the camp:<br><strong>2014 <\/strong>\u2014 The Circle organized a scientific camp in Sweden and Norway, &#8220;Scandinavia 2014&#8221;, supervised by Henryk Marsza\u0142ek and Wojciech Drzewicki, and led by Micha\u0142 Buka\u0142a and Michal Dajek. This camp won the Expedition of the Year 2014 award in the National StRuNa Competition. The Circle also hosted the National Convention of Student Geological Circles &#8220;Przesieka 2014&#8221;, which has since become a recurring event.
