The department&#8217;s sub-units, the <em>Laboratory for Hydrogeological Parameters of Rocks<\/em> and the <em>Environmental Geology Laboratory<\/em>, are equipped with specialized equipment (HPLC liquid chromatography, Numis Lite magnetic resonance) and software (GMS, Visual MODFLOW) that enable comprehensive research and problem-solving. In addition, we have the necessary equipment for determining the filtration parameters of rocks and soils, water samplers and pumps, and multiparameter probes capable of conducting surveys of surface and underground waters down to 100 meters. The department is led by Dr. hab. Sebastian Buczy\u0144ski and consists of six scientific employees, one Ph.D. student, and a technical staff member (laboratory assistant):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prof. Dr. hab. The detailed issues and research directions carried out in the Department include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>development of conceptual and numerical models of aquifer systems and structures,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>analysis of water inflow to mine workings using numerical modeling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>development of concepts for dewatering mining facilities,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>designing and implementing a network of quantitative and qualitative monitoring of groundwater,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>assessing the vulnerability of groundwater to pollution,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sampling of water and soil along with their quality assessment,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>analysis of flooding and draining (including well drying),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>determining the extent of the impact of mine dewatering,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>determine the impact of the investment on groundwater,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>balancing and documenting water resources of regional hydrogeological structures and water intakes,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>developing water economy balances,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>well designs,as-built documentation, and hydrogeological supervision; coordination of project phases: design \u2013 execution \u2013 operation of the investment,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>verification of design solutions,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supervision over the implementation and operation of investments concerning operational issues related to it,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>designation of protective zones of water intakes,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hydrological, hydrogeological, and sozological mapping,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>assessments and forecasts of changes in hydrographic conditions,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>establishing rules for the protection of aquifer systems; assessing the impact of waste disposal on the water and groundwater environment and minimizing it,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>water supply concepts (identification of promising areas for the construction of new intakes),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>systemic solutions to unusual hydrogeological problems using modern research methods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>didactic activities (nature trails, workshops and geoenvironmental and environmental classes for schools).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>The Department&#8217;s employees are implementing the following research projects:<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>NCBiR CuBR No. CuBr-4\/04\/2019<\/td><td><em><em>Innowacyjne technologie ograniczenia migracji zasolonych podziemnych do w\u00f3d powierzchniowych w rejonie OUOW \u017belazny Most [Innovative technologies to limit the migration of saline groundwater to surface waters in the \u017belazny Most OUOW area]<\/em><\/em><\/td><td>Head: Prof. Dr. hab.
