Bio-weathering processes under the influence of microorganisms (e.g., bacteria), organic matter, and root exudates are simulated. The research is applied in developing remediation techniques for contaminated sites, and also contributes to the development of technology for the recovery of elements from secondary resources using biohydrometallurgical methods.
