Sprawy przyZiemne
The Sprawy przyZiemne channel (financed from the project Social Responsibility of Science – Science Popularization and Sports Promotion, Ministry of Science and Higher Education project no. SONP/SP/513163/202) was created to “demystify” the perception of geography and geology in Poland and to show the modern, fascinating face of these scientific disciplines. For this purpose, it presents content that is both accessible and attractive, while also being consistent with contemporary scientific knowledge. Successive videos showcase research and scientific problems addressed by staff and doctoral students of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management at the University of Wrocław.
The materials prepared so far reveal a very wide spectrum of research topics – from the petrology of igneous rocks, through geomorphology of plate areas, Earth’s history recorded in sediments, production of mineral resources, to the use of satellite data in studies on water state changes in rivers. The channel also features several-minute-long interviews in which the hosts talk to scientists about their recently published articles or research projects for which they have obtained external funding. All, of course, in a comprehensible format.
