Biography
Dr. hab. Magdalena Matusiak-Małek is associated with geology at the University of Wrocław, where she obtained a master’s degree (2006) and a PhD degree (2010) and a postdoctoral degree (2019). Since September 2024, director of the Institute of Geological Sciences at the University of Wrocław. From the beginning of her scientific career, she has been dealing with the composition and evolution of the composition of the rocks of the mantle and lower crust of the Earth. She cooperates with scientific units from Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Sweden, and Albania. Supervisor or auxiliary supervisor of doctoral and master’s theses. For her achievements, she was awarded the Prime Minister’s award for her PhD dissertation and a scholarship for outstanding young scientists. She is actively involved in the popularization of Earth and environmental sciences.

Biography
Dr Iwona Korybska-Sadło is associated with the Institute of Geological Sciences of the University of Wrocław, where she defended her master’s degree in geology in 2012 and PhD in 2019. In 2017, she completed a national internship at the Laboratory of Infrared Structural Research at the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. Her scientific interests are mostly related to mineralogy with particular use of Raman spectroscopy in the study of mineral phases. Her previous scientific works are related to mineralogical collections deposited at the Mineralogical Museum of the University of Wrocław. In her scientific research, she uses spectroscopic methods, chemical analyses in micro-area and diffraction methods.

Biography
Dr. Adriana Trojanowska-Olichwer has been affiliated with the Institute of Geological Sciences at the University of Wrocław since 2005. She earned her master’s degree in environmental protection with a focus on ecology and water protection in 1998 and her doctoral degree in biological sciences with a specialization in ecology in 2005, both from the University of Łódź. In 2001, she completed a one-year internship at the National University of Ireland in Galway. She has been serving as the Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs at the Institute of Geological Sciences since 2020. Her research interests are in biogeochemistry and the ecology of aquatic and soil environments, with a particular focus on methane fermentation processes in natural and controlled conditions. She primarily uses chemical and microbiological analyses as well as isotopic methods in her research.

Biography
Dr. Wojciech Drzewicki is a geologist whose research interests and scientific achievements are primarily in the field of isotope geology, geochemistry, and contaminant migration. In addition to geological studies, he also completed master’s studies in environmental protection and postgraduate studies in environmental law. He has been associated with the University of Wrocław since the beginning of his professional career, where he earned his doctorate in 2009. He has participated in short-term internships at national and international scientific and educational institutions, such as UMCS in Lublin and the University of Sonora in Mexico. As part of his interest in Ignacy Domeyko, he has twice participated in expeditions to Chile. He has been a member of the Polish Geological Society for many years, serving as the treasurer of the Lower Silesian Branch and, since last year, as a member of the Main Board of PTG in Kraków. He is also a member of the Association of Geologists Alumni of the University of Wrocław, where he serves as the treasurer on the board. He has been serving as the Deputy Director for General Affairs at the Institute of Geological Sciences since 2012. Privately, he is a lover of travel and cats.
