Erasmus+ program

Erasmus+ is a European Union program that supports international exchanges in the fields of education, training, youth and sports activities. It allows students and doctoral students to travel abroad for part of their studies.

The Erasmus+ program offers financial support for travel to a foreign university for part of the studies for a period of 2 to 12 months. The program is available to 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle students.

Since the academic year 2023/2024, Dr. Adriana Trojanowska-Olichwer is the Erasmus+ coordinator for the fields of Geology, Geological Engineering and Applied Geosciences.

What if you want to go to study abroad?

1. Gathering information

Information on the program is available from the Erasmus+ program coordinator at the Institute of Geological Sciences, dr. Magdalena Matusiak-Małek, PhD (magdalena.matusiak-malek@uwr.edu.pl) and on the website of the International Cooperation Office. In addition, university-wide and institute information meetings (Erasmus days) are organized. At this stage you can already start thinking which the university you want to go to.

2. Assessment of language skills

Most universities require B2 level of proficiency in English as medium of instruction. If an applicant does not have a document certifying language proficiency at this level, they should sign up for an interview at the Foreign Languages Center.

Dates of qualifying interviews at SPNJO: December 8, 2023 and January 19, 2024 (registration required).

3. Submission of a file with documents

in Polish or English to the Erasmus+ coordinator. The file should include:

  • CV (tabular),
  • Written mobility approval from the Deputy Director Deputy Director for Academic Affairs at the Institute of Geological Sciences,
  • A certificate from the dean’s office of the grade point average for the last two semesters (2nd and 3rd year undergraduate and 2nd year graduate students) and the last semester (1st year undergraduate and graduate students),
  • Delaration of completed mobility (mobility capital),
  • A letter of motivation including justification for the trip. In the case of recruitment for Erasmus+ studies, the selection of up to 5 universities in the ranking order should be indicated along with the indication of the semester of departure.
  • A photocopy of the language certificate (if you do not participate in the qualifying interviews conducted by the Foreign Languages Center),
  • Written consent of the thesis supervisor when planning to leave in the 3rd year of undergraduate studies, 2nd year of master’s studies, 4th year of doctoral studies,
  • List of selected subjects to be completed at the Host Institution (optional),
  • For internship or short-term trips — confirmation of acceptance for a given mobility — the so-calledAcceptance letter issued by the respective host institution
  • Thesis supervisor’s statement of consent
