Professors in Mongolia

From the series of recollections

We continue our series of recollections of expeditions by geologists from our Institute to distant lands ❤️ Today we will go back to 1962, when young PhDs Jerzy Don and Marian Dumicz from the Department of Structural Geology and Geological Cartography conducted scientific research in Mongolia ?? The later Professors then produced geological maps of the Great Lakes region and the Mongolian Altai, and also published several scientific papers on Mongolia.

In the first of the photos you can see (from left, academic degrees as held at the time) Dr. Edmund Rutkowski, Dr. Jerzy Don and Władysław Sławiński, MA in a Mongolian yurt while preparing topographic maps for fieldwork.

Meanwhile, you will surely recognize Prof. Marian Dumicz in photo number 2, taken at the pass in the Khangai Mountains, where from the left stand: Teodor Sztuk, MA, Bogdan Olszewski, MA, Dr. Marian Dumicz, Dr. Jerzy Don and a Mongolian driver.
